Uganda Baati Confirms Participation in the Kabaka Birthday Run in Efforts to Fight HIV/AIDS

Bulange Mengo, April 5, 2024 – Uganda Baati, the leading manufacturer and supplier of quality building solutions in Uganda has confirmed support for the Kabaka Birthday Run slated for Sunday April 7 in Kampala. The Run is an annual event in support of the fight against HIV/AIDS.

The 11th edition is being organized under the theme, “Ending HIV/AIDS by 2030”, a continuation of the country’s fight against HIV/AIDSs. Past campaigns have helped raise awareness and funds to tackle Fistula and Sickle Cell Disease.

With a vision anchored on positively transforming the physical, social and economic environments of communities in Uganda, the Kabaka Birthday Run gives Uganda Baati a credible platform to help empower communities as an approach to HIV prevention.

Ag. Business head Amon Aruho is thrilled about this opportunity to renew the company’s commitment to deliver a positive impact in the community by supporting worthy causes, institutions and individuals across the country.

“Uganda Baati under the Safal Uganda Baati Foundation lives by the values of being a responsible and involved corporate citizen. Health is one of the four core pillars we prioritize in our social investment approaches,” he says.

George Mubiru, Manager Safal Uganda Baati Foundation notes that under the SAFAL Uganda Baati Foundation, the company has successfully opened two clinics; in Kampala and Tororo, that offer medical services like immunization for children, medical camps, and community sensitization programs at greatly subsidized fees, and some others for free.

Since its inception in 2013, the Kabaka Birthday Run has not only been a celebration of His Highness Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi’s birthday but also a campaign to raise funds and awareness for the fight against non-communicable diseases, especially HIV/AIDS.

Proceeds from this year’s run are expected to help in furthering the quest to have better health services in the country and sensitize men to lead a careful, responsible sexual lifestyle to fight AIDS.

Last year’s run attracted 100,000 participants in the 5km, 10km and 21km races around the kingdom’s headquarters in Mengo. The number is projected to grow even bigger this year.

While receiving the cheque from Uganda Baati, Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga the Katikkiro of Buganda Kingdom expressed his gratitude to the generous sponsorship from Uganda Baati, noting that the contribution demonstrates the unity between corporate entities and community initiatives.

“With this support, we reaffirm our dedication to fostering healthy lifestyles and preserving our rich cultural traditions. Together, we will make this year’s run an unforgettable celebration of both athleticism and cultural pride.”

Uganda Baati has a long history of supporting community development and social responsibility initiatives in Uganda. As a leading building solutions provider, the company has been a trusted partner for many Ugandan families and businesses.

Through the Uganda Baati Clinics in Kampala and Tororo, the company continues offering mass HIV testing, counseling, and community education.

Mubiru believes that working together with the Buganda Kingdom, the run can lower the prevalence of HIV even further.

END.
